Molluscum Contagiosum

and what we did to get rid of those nasty buggers!

Important Note:

I am not employed by Phillips Technologies, I am not related to David Phillips nor anyone in his company.  I found out about this company only when I researched what I could do to cure my daughter's molluscum.  They did not ask me to put up this page or to help others in this situation.  I am not being paid to advertise for them nor am I getting any perks or anything else although they have called me two times in the last year to thank me for helping people out.

This is a true story.  I didn't make any of it up.  And yes, I'm willing to talk to you about this.  You will learn as you read that I didn't use the machine in the same exact way they said that I should.  I'm not recommending to you that you should do this - just reporting to you what I did for Maia.

Please do not purchase these machines on Ebay.  You will have no way of knowing if the machine has been tampered with or if it even works.  If you want to experiment like this - do it if YOU have molluscum but don't experiment with your child.

This is a parent to parent communication.  I am not a medical professional and nothing on this page should be misconstrued to be medical advice.  I am only sharing with some about something my daughter had and what I did to help her.  You ultimately make all the choices for your own child.  Peace and God bless.

Our Story:

It was March and we found some spots on Maia's tummy. Didn't think anything of it.  Then they looked blistery so I popped one to see if it was a blister...but it didn't pop - it kind of pulled off like a skin tag and then bled.  Maia was very upset with me. I had no idea it would do this.  Then the next day there were more.  And basically over the next couple of months we battled this dozen spots on her belly and upper public area.  I thought is this eczema? Is it heat rash?  I put on Elidel eczema cream.  Didn't work. I put on Desitin.  Didn't work.

On May 19th, Maia had surgery at Texas Children's Hospital for her brachial plexus injury and all was fine.  I just kept on putting cream on her belly and pubic area.  And then one day it all happened.  The twelve turned into the 20.  The allergist said - "oh that's just something kids get - don't worry about it."  Then the following week at the pediatrician he said - "that's Molluscum Contagiosum" - you don't do anything about that unless it gets really bad.  And that was the end of all the conversations.

But now that I had a diagnosis and a name, I started reading up about this.  I realized that it was probably the Elidel that caused her to become more susceptible to getting this virus... it says so right on the sheet inside the box... "will make child more susceptible to pox viruses".  And then I read that it was an STD - and well it could have been a public toilet seat.  Then I read more about how long it lives on a dry surface - well it could have been anywhere. Maia is the playground freak - it could have been there on the slide or ANYWHERE.

So the ones on her upper pubic area moved downward to her labia and they became really bad and I got worried...  could this affect her reproductive organs??  I panicked a bit and took her to the pediatrician the next day and I had Maia waiting there already stripped down so he could see the "whole picture" and he was quite impressed.  He gave Maia an antibiotic and said that he normally treats these with cryosurgery but that it's very traumatic to the child.

The night before I had done a full night of research once again and found this site www.molluscum.com - I printed off everything I read and gave it to the doctor. He rolled his eyes of course - but I asked him to read further and he said that it was worth a try.  And I said, "I thought so too and that's why I already ordered one!"  He laughed at me.

You need to read the site yourself but here's what got me interested.  We really believe in homeopathic remedies for things - especially things like this.  Maia's homeopath gave her one remedy and the huge knee wart she had been growing for 2 years went away all on its own in a matter of 30 days - no acid - no cutting - no nothing - just two little pills under her tongue once and that was it.  When I read on the site that the molluscum don't have the same electrical current as a regular virus, so the body doesn't notice it as something wrong - I knew that probably something homeopathic wouldn't work either.  Then the site discussed the silver ions and how they worked and I knew this to be true because a friend has a swim spa in her garage and she uses a silver/copper filter - silver is the bactericide/virucide and copper being the algaecide.  And besides all of this - my gut just said that I had found Maia's cure.

trust me when I tell you that this was the nicest area of Maia's body...
I could not show you the nastiest areas where the most pox were
because they are personal areas of Maia...
so this just gives you the idea of what the blistery ones look like and
what the white centered ones look like - these were baby ones!

Also - my digital camera didn't do justice - the lighting was not right...

here's another picture that more represents what Maia's molluscum on her pubic area looked like -
just imagine that she had around 20 or more on her labial area!
Now can you get a feeling for my panic??

The unit came 24 hours later and Maia and I were ready to begin.  She was scared - well so was I.  But the "magic wand" was purple and purple is both our favorite color.  Maia was very excited.  She zapped about 20 of her pox (there were now around 500 or more) and I did the rest.  She was so sweet and trusting - she let me zap even the ones on her labia - and they were huge and horribly infected.  Poor kid.  To give you an idea of the size of the machine- it's about 3" X 5" and the wand is about 6" long - looks like marker pen with antenna.

Well - we've zapped for 4 nights and tonight we are on break.  I can tell you that she has around 80% less pox and only 3 hot ones left.  I can honestly say that probably within the next 4-5 days they  will be completely gone.... if things keep on going as well as they have been which I am sure they will.

The break didn't work as well as we expected.  Maia had another crop pop up on her legs - so we decided NOT to take any more breaks and to stay with CURE mode until they were gone.  Also - since Maia had so many lesions, we decided to use the Silver Paste/Ointment instead of the gel.  I just put the ointment on her skin, zapped all the bugger, then put clean cotton long sleeve and pant pajamas on.  This way the ointment stayed on all night.  That is what worked the best for us.  We know that this is not in the directions they gave us with the unit - but every child is different and each parent will find a way to make it work for their child.  I'm not telling you to do what I did because of course I took a chance with my own child.  But it worked for us.  We are very informed about electrical stimulation units because of Maia's 3 years of experience with them for her arm paralysis - so we were not worried about it at all.  Not taking a break and staying on CURE mode until they were gone was what worked for us and it worked very well.  The smaller molluscum would be on a 7 or 8 for 10-15 seconds and the unusually large molluscum would be on a 3 or 4 - they were more painful to zap - but I would stay on them for up to 2-3 minutes.  I'm talking about the "mother" ones on her labia - boy were they large!  And nasty..and stubborn!

Here's something amazing that happened.  Maia was in her post surgical splint - meaning that half of her body and her left arm were completely immobilized and covered in a huge body splint with straps, etc.  Her arm/hand had to be in a specific position for two months, so there was an arm strap and wrist strap that held it in position.  Maia got a huge pressure sore there within one month.  We redid the strap with different materials and even put a blister patch there but nothing worked.  It was a really bad pressure sore.  Then Maia was allowed to be unsplinted for a time during the day and even though the hand was out in the air - the sore was NOT getting better.  Three nights ago, I looked at her hand and it was purple and ulcerated.  I thought- ohmygosh, is this going to get gangrenous and have to get amputated (oh where my mind goes).  (If you don't know about my daughter yet, she has a brachial plexus injury and her left arm has very decreased circulation and lymphedema.)  I was thinking that tomorrow I will have to take her to the hospital.  But some sweet angel flicked my ear and made me think about the molluscum unit.  I covered her whole hand in silver paste and zapped her whole hand.

The next morning (TA DA!) it was 95% gone!  Hand no longer purple. Ulceration closed and looking great.  And today - the very next day it is completely gone - just some skin peeling where the ulcer was.  So think of the possibilities this unit has for those with decreased circulation in terms of wound healing - infection, etc.

So,  if your child has molluscum - you must go to this site www.molluscum.com and read for yourself!!  Tell your friends, tell the school nurse, tell the gym teacher, tell your doctor.  Just think that the alternatives are slicing them off, lasering them off, freezing them off, putting acid on them, pulling them off with tape - how traumatic can it get for a child!  Using the "magic wand" is not painful and it works... well it doesn't just work.... it works GREAT!!

Thank you to David Phillips and to his entire organization for working so hard at making products to help our kids!!  God Bless All of You !!  (and thanks again to Yemi - you are such a kind-hearted soul!)

Miss Maia the Molluscum Queen, after a zapping session -  with her post surgery splinty on and her fanny pack with her TES unit on - ready for bed.  Can you just imagine what it must have been like for this little one to have hundreds (500-700) of molluscum while being immobilized ???  The best way to describe it was "Welcome To Our Nightmare!"

UPDATES:

8/2/2003 Good Update     - about one week later from writing this page (and about 2 weeks from the day we started)  Maia's stomach is clear.... her back is clear... her buttocks are clear.  She had a new crop that went down her legs and we are about 3 days from being clear.  She has 3 left on her labia which look like it might take another week or so for that area to be clear.  It is just amazing!!

8/2/2003 Bad Update -  I have three molluscum on my right hand!  I have been zapping them regularly.  Two are now gone.  The one what I call the "mother molluscum" because it was the first one is still alive and well.  I'm treating it aggressively. It's NOT welcome here!!  It's possible that it is not a molluscum but a wart.... we shall see.  I've never had a wart before and this one has the blistery-looking center like Maia's did.  I'm just surprised that it does not itch- it actually hurts.

8/3/2003  Good Update:  my "mother" molluscum is now half the size!! Yipeeee!!!  GOTCHA!!

8/11/2003  Great Update:  all molluscum are now gone.  The mother molluscum has been eradicated!!

All in all it took one month of daily zapping to cure Maia from the molluscum.

My advice to anyone who has a child with molluscum is to stay committed to the problem until it's completely gone.  The soap is wonderful - it makes so much sense to wash - especially the fingernails - with the colloidal silver soap that phillips sells.  Maia's recovery went amazingly faster once we started using the soap.

Oh yes - and my 3 molluscum are gone too!

9/5/2003:  I am loaning my machine to another mom whose child has molluscum.  I met them at a brachial plexus weekend retreat and I can't wait to hear their wonderful results!  The child only has 20 of them... that shouldn't take long at all!!

10/27/2003:  this other girl's molluscum are now gone too!

What a blessing this machine is.
David Phillips - I can't even explain how grateful I am for your invention!!

A NOTE TO THOSE READING THIS AND THOSE WHO ARE CONSIDERING PURCHASING THIS MACHINE....  I'm not a hoax and the unit is not a hoax....

We live in Pennsylvania - near Philly....    if you are in this area, you can visit and Maia can tell you all about her "alien zapper".
