About Me...

Hi! My name is Maia Arianna Litz. I was born on May 6, 1998, I am 10 years old. Finally DOUBLE DIGITS!! I live in Pennsylvania and I'm at the end of 4th grade. My dad is Lou, my mom is Francine and my big sister is Adena. My grandmom and granddad live close by and I see them on weekends for breakfast. My other grandparents, Bubbe and Zeide, live in Florida and I visit them for a week every summer.

I have a lot of favorite things. I love my cats, Kami, Suzi and Snowball. Kami is my baby and I carry him around like a baby. He lets me scratch his neck and his tummy and he sits on my lap. We call Suzi the rodent because she acts more like a squirrel than a cat. She even climbs telephone poles. Snowball is the grandpa, he is very old and he will sneeze in your food. It's so gross. Our cats like to go outside and like to fight for our food at dinner. Suzi screams when Dad feeds her. She's too excited to get to her food. Kami sometimes eats too fast and then throws up. And Snowball - well he just eats everything but he LOVES chicken and will do almost anything for chicken!

I go to school all day long, but after school I have lots of things to do. I am Jewish and I go to Hebrew school. I also learn to speak another language called Hebrew. I go to services at a synagogue and I am in the choir there. I love to sing in the choir. On Sundays I go to Aikido class. This is like Karate but different. I don't break boards with my hands or feet. Basically, I learn how to get out of the way and we do it by falling ourselves or by making our attacker fall. My mom started me in Aikido so I would learn how to fall really well so I wouldn't break my bones I have been in dancing classes since I was 4 years old. I've already been in four dance shows. I take Jazz and Tap classes. It's so much fun. I also like to do Kids Yoga, too.

I play piano, cello, drums and glockenspiel. I started music lessons when I was 3 months old. My mom took me to a baby class called Kindermusik. I stayed with the same group of kids until I was 8. Then I stayed with my teacher, Marzena, for piano lessons and also voice lessons and her Voice For Life Choir. (www.firstnotes.net). I learn cello at school and I am in Advanced Strings and play in concerts. I also auditioned for the school's drumline and have been doing that for two years. Last year we played for the Harlem Globetrotters! In the summertime, I am in the Wissahickon Summer Pops orchestra. I play the glockenspiel with 150 other children playing various instruments. We rehearse for three weeks, then we perform for 3 weeks. We even perform for the Reading Phillies and at the New Jersey Shore. I also go to School of Rock in Fort Washington where I am a rock and roll drummer! I've already been in 3 different shows: The Doors, The 80's, and Glam Rock. In June, my mom and I are organizing a Benefit Concert at the School of Rock for the Brachial Plexus Palsy Foundation and Matt Parsons (a musician from the UK www.youtube.com/leftarmrecords) is coming to town to play with the School of Rock's House Band and me. (www.youtube.com/franlitz).

In the summer, I go to Camp America. It's a day camp where we have fun all day long. There is a lot of sports, a lot of swimming, arts and crafts, pottery, wood working and more. It's really fun. And the evenings are for music rehearsals and lessons. On weekends we like to go to the park and ride bicycles with my friends. My mom always has stuff in the car for a cookout. It's fun.

I have had a lot of pain in my arm that has the brachial plexus injury. My mom said that thre is a surgery that may help me - they want to turn my bone. But I am not too happy with that idea. So I asked her to find me a way to take some of my pain away. She takes me to Dr. Ted Koren who gives me this interesting and fun treatment. Every time I go to him it seems that my pain is getting less and less. He does something called "Koren Specific Technique". On Saturday mornings I get massage from Marika. She's really great and I have fun with her, too. They both make me very sleepy afterwards but it al feels really good. And my arm is not having as much pain anymore! YAY!

I was given the honor of being the May Monkey of the month at the Two Little Monkeys website. Here's the page that my mom made up for them. http://www.injurednewborn.com/maia_monkey.html

I hope you can come to one of my concerts.
