Splints Galore!
Gosh there are so many kinds of splints out there used for so many different reasons. The babies whose hands are in the "waiter's tip position" get splints to help bring their hands out of that posture. These splints are gradually changed as the hand recovers. Then there are splints to help give children support for crawling. There are splints to keep the hand flat for crawling. There are splints to stretch the elbows that are tightening into flexion. There are dynamic splints - splints that put a constant low force into a joint to stretch it out - worn at night while the arm is at rest.
